Corrosion Protection
Markets Served:
- Oil and Gas Refineries
- Petrochemical Plants
- Wastewater Treatment Plants
Many of today’s industrial facilities produce gases which corrode electronic control equipment resulting in process downtime. These control failure’s cost thousands of man hours and millions of dollars every day. This is why a Bioclimatic Air purification system installed to protect your sophisticated electronic equipment is one of the best investments your company can make.
Corrosive gases generated during many industrial processes can find their way into your computer control rooms, rack rooms, motor control centers and any electronic control cabinets. In sophisticated electronic equipment, the first casualties are the gold covered connector known as the “fingers or edge card connectors” located on a computer’s circuit board. These connectors allow the communication from the circuit board to the mother board. These connectors corrode by acid gases passing through microscopic pores in the gold plating to the copper plating below. A reaction takes place which causes the formation of non conductive compounds, such as copper salts, which begin to interrupt the electrical transfer from the motherboard to the circuit board. The first sign of trouble is the intermittent failure of the electronic equipment. Ultimately, as the corrosions progresses, there is a total failure. In electrical switches corrosion causes degradation of the electric current. Eventually the wire corrodes or thins to the point of breakage resulting in the loss of current. Studies at Bioclimatic Research show that environments that produce equivalent annual corrosion rates of greater than 0.1 microns per year cause unacceptable numbers of corrosion-related failures of micro-circuitry.
Bioclimatic Air Systems provides a complete, turn key, corrosion protection program to industrial facilities to protect process control equipment from premature failure due to atmospheric corrosion.
Our program involves:
Application Evaluation
Equipment Design and Manufacture
System Start-up
Follow-up Service
Full Service Laboratory Support
Support Services
With our vast experience in the corrosion protection science, we will conduct an on-site evaluation of your application, evaluate the conditions of you control room or motor control center, pre-monitor your room to determine baseline conditions, and make recommendations to insure that your control equipment environment is maintained at or below a the acceptable corrosion rate. |
